Advantages of buying your log home package from a builder/dealer

Each log home manufacturer has many different components and options that make up their "package."  This can be very confusing for someone who is not familiar with building code requirements and/or has no  experience in the construction of a complete home.  Most manufacturers will offer a building manual or instructions to construct their package, but they will not address the total building process.  Additional materials will be required to complete your house.  To accurately estimate the cost of building (knowing what additional materials will be required for completion) knowledge of the "package components" is necessary.

As an experienced, licensed contractor, we can assist you in the planning stage to ensure that you receive the most value for dollar spent.  Just a few of the areas in which we can assist are:

  • planning plumbing, heating & air conditioning systems
  • plan for electrical systems that meet building code and are energy efficient
  • proper foundation requirements

A builder with knowledge of local building codes and requirements can help "fine-tune" a plan avoiding many obstacles before they occur.  Log home construction is different than conventional frame construction.  A quality conscious builder with expertise in log home construction is insurance against future problems.

Acknowledging the difference in the building standards, this fall the International Code Council, the organization that develops U.S. Construction Codes and Standards, is expected to adopt the first log-building codes, making all contractors accountable to national codes and standards.
